City professionals let off steam at Birmingham's Fight Club

Phil Vinter discovers a craze that is sweeping Birmingham's professional community. And it hurts.

A powerful, hard-hitting, revolution is taking place in Birmingham. Every weekday, as the clock strikes five, dozens of professional men and women are powering down their computers and swapping suits and briefcases for padded gloves and gum shields to spend an evening partaking in some of the most exhausting physical exercise there is - exchanging punches with fellow professionals.

Neil Perkins, owner and managing director of Fighting Fit City Gym is set to return to the professional ring on Friday 2nd October (his 28th birthday) after being called up as a late replacement for the next Prizefighter event - Heavyweights III. This is an awesome opportunity for Neil with the best field ever assembled for this new and popular format. There is loads of press and video on the internet but here are a few links for you to look at. For those not lucky to be attending the fights you can see it all on Sky Sports 2 at 9pm, come on Neil!

New classes

We have some new classes for you to try that will aid you in your quest for fitness. Imran Chadhary takes the Thai Boxing (Tue 1945), which will be traditionally delivered combining kicks, kness and elbows. Wayne Evans brings Flex and Kick (Wednesday 1945), a Kickboxing workout with front-kicks, side-kicks and backfists

Fighting Fit City Gym is proud to support first Team Promotions professional boxing show. Fighting Fit City Gym Personal Trainer Richard Ghent will be making his 4th professional appearance at his new Light-welterweight division. Gym Manager Neil Perkins will have is 5th pro fight in the Heavyweight division. Both looking to improve their unbeaten records and continue where they left off after both wining their last contest with 3rd round KO's. The show will feature some of the hottest new prospects in the midlands including undefeated prospects Jamie Ball and Chris Male. Tickets are priced at £30.

Our next event will be a Sunday afternoon credit crunch friendly show. 16 of our finest boxers will go head to head in this Olympic Scoring team event at Oceana Nightclub. The event will feature some hot new talent and likely to be unveiled will be lively Solicitor Andy Jones, powerful Casino manager Martyn Shine and bookeeper Dave 'Davey Boy' Short. Some of the old guard including James Conolloy, Rob Catton and Eddie White will also feature. Standing bar tickets from £15 and tables from £25 per head, all interval food will be competitively priced. Keep posted for more information.

Charity Sparrathon and Open Day - Friday 14th August 2009

Charity Sparrathon

Fighting Fit City Gym has a superb fundraising event on Friday the 14th of August. The Sparrathon will feature 12 hours of non-stop sparring with Fighting Fit Gym members going head to head in an all action day. Pro boxers will also be jumping in throughout the day including two of Fighting Fit's undefeated pros, Lightweight Richard Ghent, Welterweight Keith Sheen and Heavyweight Neil Perkins. The event is aid of Help for Hero's and will have several of our servicemen who have been in Afghanistan attending the event. Food and drinks will be supplied free all day, top magician Ben Hanlin will be performing tricks, a Physio will be on hand for injury diagnosis and Sports Nutritional Advisor Cain Leathem will be available for Nutritional Advice. Please feel free to pop down throughout the day to witness and support the event.
